I keep hearing the same thing from people I used to work alongside: they're good at their jobs, and none of that seems to matter to an applicant tracking system.
More Than a Resume is a project I'm building to push back on that, in a small way. Through a virtual interview series called The Waiting Room, I sit down with unemployed and career-pivoting professionals and let them tell the real version of their story — the layoff, the application fatigue, the parts of a job search nobody puts on LinkedIn. Then we get to the part that usually gets flattened into a bullet point: what they're actually good at, and what kind of team would be lucky to have them.
This isn't a venting session. It's a chance to be seen as more than a rejection email.
The channel is launching soon. If you're in the middle of a job search or a career pivot and want to share your story — on camera or anonymously — I'd like to hear from you. And if you're a hiring manager who believes resilient, real people make better hires than keyword matches, there's a seat here for you too.
